Sorry, Suffering From Writer’s Block
How I’m feeling today..
Why?
Well, many reasons. Let’s start with how uninformed the general populace is.
Many people who regularly use the internet had no idea what SOPA/PIPA was (is?) until the blackouts of January 18th. Here are some examples (from here)…
This kind of thing really annoys me. Sure, some of them might be kidding, but I’ve personally run across people on the internet that have no clue what all of the hub bub was about. As much as it’s been in the news, it’s so hard for me to understand how people can be so uninformed. I was talking to a friend of mine on Wednesday about his computer (I had spent most of the previous Saturday fixing it) and he said “everything is working fine, but Google has this big black thing covering the logo so we were afraid to use it…is this a virus?”
Really?
This irritates me to absolutely no end.
It’s not just about things internet….it’s things that the government does in general that people have no clue about. It spreads far and wide across many different types of people. The debate last night for example…so much cheering and ovations for ideas that would have been popular 100 years ago.
If we are to move forward at all, the people need to be informed…but more importantly, thet have to WANT to be informed. We have become such an intellectually lazy nation that the world is just passing us by…and laughing as they do.
So, what can we do about it? The first thing I would suggest is to pick a set of 4 news/blog sites, 4 tech sites, and 4 sites that are of your general interest. That’s only 12 websites, but some people might not want to visit them every day. Problem solved. Google has a convenient RSS reader and most sites have an RSS feed.
Here is a nifty video to help you out..bear in mind Reader has changed a bit since this video was made, but the concept is essentially the same…
12 sites you can check in a few minutes daily. It’ll help keep you informed and up to date on what’s going on in the world.
12 is easy, I have over 100. Heck I might list them on a seperate page one day, but not today.
Chances are, if you are reading this, you already know all of this stuff…but pass it on. The better informed we are, the better citizens we become.
Sheese writer’s block sucks….you get brain dumps like this as a result.

[...] so, I’m a little mean there, but looking back on my “uninformed” post from yesterday, my frustration was at a very high level. Is It Share-Worthy? Hide Sites [...]
