Santorum: Liberals ‘are the anti-science ones’ – David Edwards Mon, 20 Feb 2012

Here we go again, the Santorum show is in full swing already this week.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum charged on Monday that President Barack Obama and Democrats were “anti-science” because they refused to exploit the Earth’s natural resources to the limits of technology.

Annnnnnd, here we go again. It’s amazing to me that this man is actually STILL IN THE RUNNING. Are republican voters this stupid?…wait, bush was in office for 8 years, so yeah I guess they are.

“What they have done? And I referred to it the other day and I got criticized by some of our, well, less-than-erudite members of the national press corps who have a difficulty understanding when you refer to someone’s ideology to the point where they elevate Earth, and they say that, well, men and humanity is just of a variety of different species on the Earth and should be treated no differently.”

Rick, humans are a species on the Earth. We are separated from others by our ability to reason…not because some supernatural being says so…which is what he is really trying to say here. To Santorum and other hyper-christians, the Earth was given to humans by Yaweh and he gave humans “dominion” over it.

After all, it’s in the bible…Gen 1:28 to be exact…

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (KJV)

This dominion philosophy, if left to fester in the highest halls of government, will ensure that our climate problems will continue and most likely escalate. Sadly, the dominion philosophy plays right into the hands of the massive polluters themselves.

Let’s face it, polluters have been playing the Genesis 1:28 card for a long time. They don’t buy it anymore than you or I do, but if it means they can continue to rake in huge profits over the health of the planet (and it’s populace) then they’ll continue to play it. Ethics be damned.
